The End of Summer

At least it feels like it. It went from being 96 a couple of days ago to today having a high of 65. That and it's windy as all hell outside. In addition I'm trying to finish up the wine bar logo I've been working on and I'm having a hell of a time getting going today. Maybe more caffeine is the answer.

People have been saying here that the end of summer has come fast upon them. In Monroe, however, we began to feel cooling temperatures at night in mid August. We noticed that the leaves were changing color at about the same time on some trees. By the end of the month, the night time lows were reaching the upper 40s, though the daytime highs were still quite warm.

I don't think people thought about the fall until the rains came and did not let up for days. That's a nice way to think of it, but considering we did not have hardly any rain from June on this year - we had a blessedly dry season with lots of sun - I think it lulled some people into a trance-like state of summer and allowed them to ignore the other signs.
